Project Quality Assurance internal UI

COMPANY

Skylight was created to fix the problems with the traditional home remodeling experience. Driven by service and powered by technology Skylight offers design services, project planning and matches you with an appropriate local contractor.

BACKGROUND

Interior Designers and Building Technologists within Skylight were experiencing duplication of reviewer effort given the current organization of content. For each project, the QA tool (using Google Sheets) was made up of multiple tabs and 100’s of lines, with no easy way to filter and organize content in a way that makes sense for each user group. We needed to provide internal teams with a more efficient and logical way to perform QA and organize its content in our existing backend system. "Using google sheets makes it hard to see everything on a screen. Even when checking tasks, a user has to scroll horizontally to find the checkbox."
- User interview quote.

GOAL

Overall, we hope to see a reduction in the number of mistakes that are currently being found in drawings.

PRODUCT

New QA feature.

APPROACH

After interviewing key stakeholders and users of the tool, I created high-level requirements including proposed data models and mockups which were then reviewed with Engineering and key stakeholders to align and make any necessary revisions. We also had a content audit being performed which was a very important step to ensure redundant content was being removed while also introducing new content for QA reviews that were missing. Engineering and Product worked very closely throughout the development process to ensure alignment on features and functionality of the new QA tool. Demos, release planning and training were the final tasks before launching the feature.

RESULT

The QA tool was adopted by Designers and Building Technologists within Skylight. Skylight was acquired prior to launching this new feature.
